From California to Florida to Cincinnati Ohio…
with iceland in between
So I began my photography business in San Diego, California. I began there being mentored at some of the most beautiful wedding venues like La Valencia hotel in La Jolla (a personal favorite), tivoli in fallbrook, and La Jollas women club. I learned so much from mentors and peers.
From there, I decided to plan a styled shoot at the Hotel Lafayette to showcase kitschy, editorial wedding styles. We featured bold wedding designs in Maximalist locations. Those pictures are in a previous blog.
From there I MOVED to northern Florida. Just outside of orlando and Jacksonville. It took a while to find my community. I had hoped to connect with people who were into more of the artistry and experience of a wedding. During this time I continued to put myself in spaces where I could learn and grow from and alongside people I admired.
We all know Florida has a bad rep for queer inclusion, but I found a pocket of the industry where gay love is truly celebrated. I continued planning photoshoots, attending conferences, and working. Although I am a part of the lgbtq+ community, I went to once educational shoot that discussed inclusive language in the wedding industry. It was eye opening the little things I could change in my wedding diction.
I got to work with (in my opinion) some of the most talented photographers in Jacksonville, tampa, and st. pete..
and now after rebuilding my business in the St Augustine, Florida area, i’m moving again.
So what does this mean for my business? Well, I will be living and mostly working out of Cincinnati. I will continue doing portraits, engagement photos, family photos, elopements, and weddings. I will continue traveling in the continental united states up to once a month, and overseas I will be booking for the summers.
Shooting in iceland was so inspiring. It absolutely gave me the travel but. SO I WILL CONTINUE BEING A DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, sAN dIEGO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, nORTHERN FLORIDA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, CINCINNATI WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, AND ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN.
